Things You Should Never Say

I couldn't say it any better:

  1. Melissa, thanks for passing this along. If I've ever said one of these things or something similar, I apologize. By the way, I don't think I've officially congratulated you & Dennis on the exciting news of a baby coming! prBrett

  2. Not to worry, Pastor Brett! I wasn't being pointed when I posted the link, promise! I know that many people ask out of curiosity, and you can tell the difference between someone who is genuinely interested in the choices one makes and one who is just plain being rude and wanting to make you feel stupid for those choices.
I actually enjoy the "hands full" comment, because I get to respond with "I sure do! Better full than empty!" To which they usually catch themselves and have to admit, yes, better full/busy hands than empty hands with no one to serve.
Certainly I am not saying that just because someone has fewer/no children means their hands are "empty"--I simply mean that the raising of these children is my "work", and I strive to do it as unto the Lord.
PS. I have a hard time believing that thoughtless words ever pass your lips--you strike me as a think-before-you-speak type of guy... :o)
